Orientation...

Once your child is registered, the Backfield in Motion Youth Coordinator assigned to your community center will contact you to schedule an orientation meeting.

This meeting is designed to offer information regarding:

  • Services offered by Backfield in Motion

  • Expectations by Backfield in Motion from you and your child

  • Program Policies and Rules

  • Tutoring Schedule for the School Year:
Depending on the tutoring schedule for your community center, your child will report to the site three days a week during the school year for mandatory academic tutoring, where he will receive customized help with homework in every subject, with special emphasis on reading, math and science.

  • Information about our Saturday (School) Enrichment Program
Saturday School is held every Saturday from 8:00AM to 12:00PM CST on the campus of nearby Montgomery Bell Academy.  The session begins with a full breakfast, followed by enrichment in reading, math, life-skills/character development and academic game challenges.  It concludes with seasonal athletic events.

  • Information about our Athletic Practice:
Depending on the season, your child will practice football, basketball or baseball with his community center team.  He will also have access to other sports at various times of the year.  Remember, your child MUST participate in weekly after-school tutoring and Saturday School to be eligible for the athletic activities coordinated by Backfield in Motion

  • Sports League(s) Schedule(s) for the Year:
Backfield in Motion's sports leagues help build communities, strengthen relationships and give kids great opportunities to practice their athletic skills in real-life game environments.  All league games are played at Nashville community centers and on the campus of Montgomery Bell Academy where Backfield in Motion offers free food and beverages to all players.  Backfield in Motion provides free transportation for all team members to all events.

Football League games start in late August and run through late October with the Jamboree.  Regular season games are played on one week day and Saturday mornings throughout the fall.  Playoffs, championship and all-star games are held in venues such as Vanderbilt Stadium, Montgomery Bell Academy's sports facility or the Titan's LP Field.

Basketball League games start in December and run through February, with regular games played twice weekly.

Baseball League game spring training starts in March, with the season taking place during April and May.
